What causes my upright vacuum cleaners to spit hair out while running?
I've had this problem with both a bag vacuum and a bagless, whether the bag or cup is empty or full. Whenever I'm working with the attachments, I find that the vacuum spits out hair onto my previously cleaned floor. I've tried blocking the hole that the attachment hose comes out of, and this makes no difference. The hair seems to come from the bottom of the vacuum. I clean the brush of hair regularly as well. Is there a magic vacuum out there that does not have these kinds of problems? I'm fed up with vacuums that spit hair and start to smell of burning rubber after a few months use.
Have you tried cleaning all of the filters on the vacuum/ The hair gets stuck on the brush and the black belt and the belt has a difficult time turning. That's the burning smell you get. Try cleaning or changing your black rubber belt- that'll also help.

Tip the vacuum over and remove the hair wrapped around the brush. I have to do this with my vacuum also. I rub a rubber squeegee over the rug before vacuuming to get up most of the hair.
Vacuums smell of burnt rubber when you have gotten something stuck in it and pulled it loose.
